Public Records Requests and Accessibility Statement
Public Records Requests
As a public agency, Jackson Soil and Water Conservation District complies with the Oregon Public Records Law (ORS 192.311–192.478). This law gives members of the public the right to access records maintained by state and local government entities, including SWCDs.

All public records requests must be submitted in writing, which may include email or mail.
Acknowledgment:
Within five business days of receiving your written request, we will acknowledge receipt and confirm whether we are the custodian of the requested records.
Next Steps – Following District Procedure:
After your request is acknowledged, our internal procedure will be followed to fulfill your request:
- A District representative will contact you to clarify the request (if needed) and will prepare a Public Records Access Order Form.
- This form will include an estimate of the total cost for fulfilling the request, based on the actual time and materials required.
- Fees:
- $30/hour for staff time, assessed in 15-minute increments ($15 minimum).
- $0.15 per page for photocopies (District staff will make all copies).
- If estimated charges exceed $25, a non-refundable deposit will be required before processing begins.
- Public record inspection must be scheduled by appointment during regular business hours and will be supervised by a District representative.
- Records will be released upon payment of the estimated charges. If the actual cost ends up being less, the difference will be refunded.
