Ellie Zignego

Position: Outreach and Engagement Coordinator

Ellie Zignego is the Outreach and Engagement Coordinator for JSWCD. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science from Montana State University, where she developed expertise in stream ecology, soil science, environmental microbiology, and plant pathology. Her studies took her to diverse environments, including rural Oregon, Yellowstone National Park, and the arctic tundra of Iceland.

Ellie has also deepened her knowledge through two seminar courses with Paul Stamets at Fungi Perfecti, focusing on mushroom cultivation and mycorestoration techniques. After earning her degree, she explored other career paths, obtaining her Yoga Teacher License in Dharmshala, India. She went on to teach yoga and spent several years working in breweries before returning to further her education.

More recently, Ellie earned a Master’s degree in Teaching STEM and gained experience as a high school science teacher, instructing AP Environmental Science, Biology, and Physics.

Ellie enjoys traveling, exploring spirituality, creating nature-based art, and spending time with her partner, Forrester, and their dog, Gizmo.
